TWHS Student Receives National Award

Congratulations to Topeka West junior photography student Idely Alarcon, whose image, "Profound Thoughts" has been awarded a Gold Key National Medal and will be included in the 2016 Art.Write.Now National Exhibition and Student Showcase in New York City!

This award is so prestigious that this is only the second time in over 20 years that a TWHS photography student's Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Gold Key image has been accepted into the national show.

Idely Alarcon's photograph, entitled "Profound Thoughts," will be on display in the exhibit from June 2-12. Over 300,000 entries of art and writing were submitted for consideration and only 2,400-- that's less than 1%-- were selected for the Gold Key National Medal.

Congratulations, Idely-- we're so proud of your amazing accomplishment!!
