THS Students Participate in Trade Show

Students in Topeka High School's Entrepreneurship class participated in a trade show this morning in the school's "Dungeon." There, they pitched their ideas for small businesses-- a project they've been working on for several weeks in teacher Murray Moore's class.

The kids, who are all sophomores, juniors or seniors, presented a wide variety of business ideas, including house cleaning services, photography, lawn care, translation services, tutoring, shoe care, cosmetology ser...vices and many art-related businesses, among others. The students utilized the knowledge they gained in class, plus a lot of creativity, to come up with their mock business ventures.

One student we spoke with pitched her idea for party planning services. Senior Belen Valencia was inspired by the fun she had planning her own quinceanera. "I just like being creative," she said, while standing in front of an impressive display of embellished glasses, bouquets and other party accessories. She hopes to pursue a degree in business after she graduates from THS so that she can someday turn her talent and creativity into a career.

The Topeka High Trade Show was an inspiring display of ingenuity and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these young entrepreneurs!
