This school year is winding down for our students, but Topeka
Public Schools is already hard at work planning for the 2014-2015 school year.
At the May 1st school board meeting, board members approved
the hiring of three new elementary administrators:
Jessica Figueroa, currently the assistant principal at Scott
Dual Language Magnet Elementary, will become Whitson Elementary’s new
principal.
Kelly Norman, an assistant principal at Landon Middle
School, will become the principal of Highland Park Central Elementary.
Karen Williams, an assistant principal at Ross Elementary,
will become the principal at Randolph Elementary.
The school board also approved the hiring of Jason Jones. He will become Highland Park High School’s new physical education teacher and boys basketball coach.
Also approved by the board was the purchase of 900 ThinkPad
Notebook computers for the district. The funding for these computers comes from
the passage of the “Securing Our Future: Educate, Innovate and Protect” bond
initiative. Many other updates to technology and safety are on the horizon in
Topeka Public Schools and we’re so excited to make these positive changes for
our students and staff!
