Jeanne Carton, principal of
Topeka West High School, won a day off of work thanks to her donation to the Topeka
Public Schools Foundation. Every year, to
encourage Foundation support, TPS superintendant Dr. Julie Ford offers the
chance to win an extra day of leave to an employee who makes a Foundation
contribution. Ethel Edwards, NEA Topeka Chapter President, drew Ms. Carton’s
name from amongst the names of the many contributing staff members. Then, on
Friday, November 8th, Dr. Ford, Ms. Edwards, and Pamela Johnson-Betts, TPS
Foundation executive director, made a surprise visit to TWHS to present Ms. Carton
with the news of her win. Congratulations, and enjoy your day off, Ms. Carton!
We are the largest district in Shawnee County & believe that our students will change the world.
