Kansas Teacher of the Year Nominees

Congratulations to Pat Nash and Kristen Cigler Nelson for being nominees for Kansas Teacher of the Year, Region 2.  Nash is a physical education teacher at Scott Dual Language Magnet School.  “My passion is teaching.  I go to work every day loving what I do.  I give so much to the students and they, in turn, produce incredible work for me.  I teach because I make a difference,” said Nash.

Nelson is a language arts teacher at Topeka High School.  “I work hard and I expect them (students) to work hard.  I hold them accountable.  I expect them to seek me out and get help.  They know they can tell me what they think and I won’t hold it against them and they know that I will tell them the truth,” said Nelson.

The two teachers from Topeka Public Schools were honored, along with nominees from throughout Northeast Kansas, at the regional awards banquet held September 8 in Topeka.
