Summer Interns Gain Valuable Experience

Since 2011, middle and high school students from Topeka Public Schools have volunteered in Human Resources, Communications, Demographics, Curriculum and Instruction and the Superintendent’s office during the summer months of June, July and August.

This year there were 8 students who volunteered through Burnett. Their efforts and time spent doing mailings, copying, organizing, putting together benefit packets and notebooks for the various seminars are greatly appreciated.  They were on time for their shifts and their attendance was impeccable.
In addition to volunteering, these students were also busy with extra-curricular activities with the district and some even assisted with enrollment at the schools.

At the end of their assignments, these students are rewarded with a pizza party and a gift bag filled with goodies from various departments at the Burnett Center as a thank you for their volunteer efforts.

A BIG “Thank You” to:
Keira Beatty – Superintendent’s Office
Malik Carter – Human Resources
Kelsey Cott – Superintendent’s Office & Human Resources
Hashavione Edmundson – Human Resources
Kaylie Farley – Curriculum & Instruction
Erin Mumford – Superintendent’s Office
Jaide Ramirez-Jennings – Superintendent’s Office & Human Resources
