McCarter Elementary School has been named the winner of the
statewide Recycle-Bowl. The event is the
only nationwide recycling competition among elementary, middle and high school
students. McCarter won the statewide
competition for recycling an impressive 16 pounds per student or a school total
of more than 8,000 pounds. Keep American
Beautiful (Topeka/Shawnee County) Executive Director Philicia McKee made the
announcement at a school assembly this morning.
She presented McCarter Principal Katherine Cooney with a plaque and a
check for $1,000. Cooney says the money may be used
to plant trees along the school’s new walking track.
We are the largest district in Shawnee County & believe that our students will change the world.
