The 2012-2013 Highland Park High School & Alumni
Association Induction Ceremony and Alumni Hall of Fame and Sports/Activities
Wall of Honor were held February 8 and 9, 2013.
The Alumni Association inductees were John (Saunders) Quade,
Victoria (Billau) Seeger and Freddy Maisberger.
Athletics/Activities inductees were the 2006-2007 boys basketball team,
Gloria (Kemp) White and Darth Vaughn.
John (Saunders) Quade
Actor – Class of 1956
Actor – Class of 1956
John Quade, as he was known in Hollywood, appeared in nearly
130 films, television shows, television series and theater. He is best known as playing Cholla, leader of
the Black Widows motorcycle gang, in the hit film Every Which Way But Loose.
Other memorable films include The
Outlaw Josey Wales and High Plains
Drifter with friend Clint Eastwood, The
Sting with Paul Newman and Papillion with
Steve McQueen. He also appeared in
television shows like Bonanza, Rockford Files, Gunsmoke and Starsky &
Hutch. Television series include Roots
and The Godfather. He was also a
producer, director and writer. John died
in 2009.
Victoria Seeger

Educator – Class of 1972
Victoria received her Bachelor of Arts, Vocational Home
Economics Education degree and her Bachelor of Education in Elementary
Education from Washburn University as well as a Masters degree in Curriculum
and Instruction from Washburn. Her
Doctorate of Philosophy was obtained at Kansas State University. Vicki currently is an assistant professor at
Northwest Missouri State University.
Vicki has received national and state recognition and served on various
committees. She has authored several
books and has been a co-presenter at various education conferences across the
country.
Friedrich “Freddy” Maisberger
Educator – Class of 1985
Educator – Class of 1985
Freddy grated from Washburn University with a Bachelor of
Arts majoring in history with minors in political science, science and
English. He received his Master of Arts
in Education from Baker University.
Freddy currently teaches history and is a coach at Highland Park High
School. He serves as a peer mentor for
new teachers to Highland Park, he serves as the social studies department head
and is on the social studies curriculum assessment committee for Topeka Public
Schools. He is also the liaison for the
Highland Park High School Alumni Association.
Freddy coaches wrestling, cross country, track, soccer and baseball.

The team had a perfect 25-0 season. The “Runnin Scots” played in only two games
that were decided by fewer than 10 points.
Their average margin of victory was 28.2 points per game. The team was named by both the Topeka Capital
Journal and the Wichita Eagle as one of the top two teams of all time in the
state of Kansas.
Gloria Kemp White
Olympian – Class of 1962
Olympian – Class of 1962
At age 16, Gloria was the national Junior Olympic shot put
champion. In 1960, she set a U.S. record
in the shot put at 43 feet 10 inches that stood for six years. She was the youngest female U.S. Olympic
competitor in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
In 1961, she was the runner up for National Indoor Shot Put and Basketball
Championship of the United States.
Darth Vaughn

Darth excelled in football, basketball and track while at
Highland Park High School. He also
played basketball and was a champion high jumper at Cornell University where he
pursued his undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Darth later earned a law degree from the University of Southern
California. He is currently involved in
tort and business litigation and corporate services at a law firm in
California.
