Two graduates of the Topeka High School Junior ROTC program
returned last week with words of wisdom for the current cadets. Army Lieutenant. Richie Kent is a West Point graduate
who was wounded while serving in Afghanistan.
Walking into the cadet room with a cane, Ritchie talked about his days
in the ROTC program at Topeka High and about his experiences in the
military. He emphasized the importance
of leadership, discipline and how you relate to others, whether it be as a
student, in the military or in the civilian world.
Brian Dawson was also a cadet at Topeka High School. He went from being a bag handler at Delta
Airlines to being one of the top officials at the operations control center at
Delta. He also gave advice to the cadets
about leadership and what it takes to be successful as a person.
