Hundreds of students play musical instruments, but Jack
Williamson’s musical instrument makes a very unusual, but recognizable sound. The 15 year old Topeka High School student
plays the bagpipe. You may have seen
Jack leading the procession at the Highland Park High School graduations the
past few years.
Jack recently competed in the Balmoral Classic US Junior
Solo Bagpiping Competition in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Jack placed 3rd overall in the
contest. He was the only bagpiper from
the Midwest invited to the competition.
His prize was a new set a bagpipes, a trophy and a scholarship for a
week long bagpiper summer workshop.
Jack has been playing the Great Highland Bagpipe for five
years and has competed on the solo contest circuit for three years. He is a member of the Kansas City St. Andrew
Pipes and Drums.
