The Topeka Public Schools’ campus police department is in
its new home at the former Avondale East Elementary School at 455 SE Golf Park. The Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors were on
hand to help with the ribbon cutting of the facility this afternoon. Superintendent Dr. Julie Ford was joined by Topeka
Police Chief Ron Miller and representatives of the Hi Crest Neighborhood and
Safe Streets. “This brings stability to
the neighborhood to have our police department located here. It is truly a wonderful facility for
them. They were in need of better
facilities so it’s a win, win for us,” said Ford. School officials are hoping that this is just
the first step in having other community partners move to Avondale East to
better serve the residents of that area.
We are the largest district in Shawnee County & believe that our students will change the world.
